23 Dec Best wishes for health, peace and success in the New Year 2025
As we reflect on the year coming to an end, I’d like to share a few thoughts on how innovation, technology, and strategic partnerships have driven Blendhub’s activity in 2024, and how they will continue shaping our work in 2025.
Current challenges
This year has been full of innovations, particularly in our business model core segments: blending services, plant-based innovations, and partnerships in functional ingredients. At the same time, we have strengthened our strategic collaborations with key players, especially Siemens, with whom we had the honor of participating in global events such as CES in Las Vegas, the world’s leading technology event, and the Hannover Messe.
We were also proud to receive the Siemens Sustainability Impact Award at the Realize LIVE event in Munich in June, which reflects Siemens’ confidence in our business model supporting anyone from idea to market launch of healthy and affordable food products, anywhere in the world.
In 2024, we successfully concluded the Affordable Nutrition Scaleup Challenge with EIT Food, which enabled us to collaborate with and learn from innovative European startups on nutritious and sustainable food recipes using both novel and upcycled ingredients.
Additionally, we reinforced our presence in key markets and strengthened our teams in Europe, the Middle East, and Colombia.
Technology and innovation with Siemens
The year kicked off strong at CES Las Vegas, where we showcased our “Full Meals – How Impact Tastes Like” project in collaboration with Siemens Digital Industries Software. This initiative focuses on providing nutritious, sustainable, and affordable food to underserved communities in a for-profit business model with transparency in cost and nutritional value. With Siemens’ technological support, we aim to reinforce the B2H part of our business, creating positive social impact while at the same time generating value for all stakeholders.
Boosting our commercial activity
This year, we had the opportunity to showcase our innovative solutions for the food industry at various events and trade shows. We participated in Food 4 Future in Bilbao in April, where we unveiled the “Non-Typical Protein” initiative, advancing sustainable food production through alternative proteins. Collaborating with partners like 3D Essence Food, Foodiq, and LeanPio, we demonstrated innovations in ingredient upcycling and plant-based formulas.
We also renewed our commitment to the Indian market by exhibiting at the Indian Ice Cream Expo where we brought healthier recipes for ice cream production, such as low-fat, no-sugar, clean label, and new flavor options.
And for the first time, we exhibited at Gulfood Manufacturing in Dubai, where we presented our Food-as-a-Service solutions to industry stakeholders in the Middle East, a region with enormous potential for growth in the food industry.
Innovating in healthier, sustainable, and affordable products
Throughout the year, we developed novel blend solutions, including functional gummies for nutraceuticals, OTC, and food supplements; plant-based beverages targeting flexi-d consumers; new functional solutions for healthier ice creams; drinkable Greek yogurt for on-the-go nutrition; and Milk Not Milk, plant-based beverages with similar texture, taste, and nutritional value as traditional milk.
With market intelligence, partners, and production hubs on four continents, we are increasingly better prepared to anticipate market needs and offer food companies fast, efficient, and affordable solutions to innovate anywhere in the world—taking anyone from idea to market launch in less than three months.
Impactaste: A collaborative and impactful project
One of this year’s initiatives I am most proud of is Impactaste, a project in collaboration with Hijos de Rivera, an innovation platform that connects university students and young entrepreneurs to develop new products and business lines in the food industry. We started with beer bagasse, which led to creative, market-ready solutions for bakery, snacks, and beverages.
And we aim to continue this project with initiatives in other food segments, always emphasizing our commitment to sustainability and providing healthy, affordable food options to everyone, everywhere.
Looking ahead to 2025
In 2025, we will continue our journey with a focus on supporting food industry SMEs through continuous innovation. We aim to build new partnerships with ingredient suppliers upstream, as well as with food industry stakeholders, retail chains, and influencers downstream. Additionally, we will advance our collaboration with universities and young entrepreneurs to develop new, healthy ingredients and affordable recipes.
We have many exciting ideas, an experienced and committed team, and a global network connected to the cloud connecting the best raw materials to food formulations, alongside a pioneering, quick, and efficient quality control system in close collaboration with Chemometric Brain.
With your ongoing support and trust, we are confident that we will continue achieving new milestones and creating shared value together.
On behalf of everyone at Blendhub, I wish you a joyful holiday season and a successful new year ahead!
